Braggers Wood Camp (Aug 2008)
The Group went on summer camp to Braggers Wood, near Christchurch.
Over the week both sections enjoyed various activities, including a visit by train and ferry to Brownsea Island (the location of the first ever Scout camp in 1907). In addition the Scouts went to Paultons Park (a theme park) and the Cubs to Monkey World (a rescue centre for primates).
We also took part in a number of on-site activities: we used the site climbing tower and archery range, as well as participating in a site campfire. The Scouts had opportunities to cook for themselves, whilst the Cubs and Leaders were brilliantly catered for by "Nanny Chip". A big thank you, Ruth, for coordinating all our catering and for coming all the way from Devon!
As a welcome change from last year the weather was reasonably fair and it certainly contributed to a successful week for all our Cubs and Scouts.
